Brizy Pro Preview Build 0.0.5: The Popup Builder

Let me guess, you thought we were done for the week. We’re not, not by a long shot. Today we’ve added the Popup Builder into Brizy Pro. This is one of the updates that we are very excited about, especially me and my colleagues from the design team.

This is the 5th Brizy Pro preview build. More about on how we plan to launch the Pro plus a list of all the features we’ll add in the coming weeks/months can be found in this article

Here is what you’ll find in this article. Use the links below to jump to a specific section:

Download & install Brizy Pro v.0.0.5.

Download & Install

Brizy Pro can’t be accessed directly from your WordPress admin. The Pro is an actual extension of the Brizy Free plugin so need to download the Pro plugin from your account and manually install it in your WordPress.

Step 1. Login into your account and download the Brizy Pro plugin .zip

Step 2. Login into your WordPress admin and manually install & activate Brizy Pro from Plugins > Add New (Upload the entire zip you downloaded from your Brizy account, don’t unzip it.)

Important: The Pro will only work if you have Brizy Free installed & activated.

You will already have the 0.0.4. installed, you’ll need to download & install the Pro again from your account on every update we make.

Don’t worry, we are working on the update part. You’ll be able to do it directly from your WordPress admin once we officially launch the Pro.

The Popup Builder

I clearly remember every time we needed a popup (and decided to use a popup plugin/solution) there was always this pain to actually build it, add new elements to it, stylise it. Almost always we ended up creating it from scratch to fit our very precise needs.

I’d argue that the Brizy Popup Builder is the first popup builder of its kind.

We have a blast creating with it, and we plan to include a very cool pack of pre-made popups once we start adding the premium design in Brizy Pro.

What is so cool about it (as I’m sure you’ll see) is that you don’t have to learn any new tool or workflow. You’ll use the same tools/options you already know from the regular Brizy builder.

How to add a popup

Step 1. Popups can be added (for the time being) on any link, be it a button or text link.

Step 2. Select a popup from the popup :P. Only a default one was created but more will be added once we add the premium design part in Brizy Pro in a couple of weeks (continue reading to view a couple of pop-up designs we started to work on).

Step 3. Once you’ve selected a popup from the list (similar to blocks), click on its thumb to bring up the popup builder.

From this point on, you work with the tools you already know and love from Brizy. Add elements play with colors, backgrounds, opacities, columns. The sky is the limit.

Food for thought: once we flash out the dynamic part of Brizy a bit more, you’ll be able to do interesting dynamic things in the popup builder.

Future ideas

There are two types of popup activation. The first one is by interacting with something on the page, like clicking a text link or a button (this is solved in this update.)

There is a second type of popup activation by conditioning a certain event to happen (seconds on the page, exit intend and so on). This will be next for Brizy’s Popup Builder.

There is an entire industry based on these conditional popups. Wouldn’t be nice to have everything integrated natively in Brizy Pro? and without having to pay extra for those services?

Can’t wait to see what you guys think of the popup builder just added in Brizy Pro 0.0.5. Here are just a couple examples we’ve started to play with that will come in the popup pre-made pack once we add the premium design in the following weeks.

This is just the beginning, more cool features are coming to Brizy Pro in the following weeks. Please add any suggestions/issue you have on GitHub. Also, consider joining our Facebook community where we discuss all things Brizy every day.

Until next time.
