Translating websites enables site owners to make their site’s content available to users in different regions who use different languages. This allows them to reach out to and convert users from different parts of the world in their preferred language.

In this article, we’ll show you how to create a multi-language site easily and without using any plugins. But before we get to that, we can start by looking at why you might need to translate your website into multiple languages.

Why You Might Need to Translate Your Website

The world is often referred to as a global village to imply a sense of interconnectedness among people globally because of the internet. However, people from different parts of the world use different languages to communicate. This creates a language barrier among people that use different languages.

As a business owner, if you want to sell to this ‘global village’, it’s essential to make your site available in multiple languages. This is your best shot at breaking down the language barrier. By doing this you can communicate with a variety of users in their preferred language and easily target potential customers in different market segments.

As you can already tell, making a site multilingual will unlock several benefits that can propel any online business to new heights. Before we can get into these benefits, let’s first see how you can translate your website into multiple languages using Brizy Cloud’s multi-language translation feature.

Create multilanguage websites automatically with Brizy Cloud

First things first, Brizy Cloud is a cloud-based SaaS platform hosted by Brizy that contains everything required to build and brand uniquely stunning websites for different markets.

With Brizy Cloud, you can automatically translate the original site language of your website into various languages of the world. You can do this without installing any plugins and with both the Free and Brizy Cloud Pro plans. However, in the free plan, you’ll be limited to a single language.

If you’re subscribed to the Pro plan, Brizy Cloud doesn’t limit you to the number of languages you want to translate your site into.

You can create multilingual websites and engage different types of site visitors in their native languages. This way, you’ll offer personalized user experiences which encourage onsite users to consume content in their preferred language and take the desired action. When users visit your website, they will simply click on the language switcher and your site will be instantly translated into the selected language.

Brizy Cloud’s multi-language translation capabilities allow you to do the following:

  • Create bilingual sites with the free version. You can create multilingual sites with Brizy Cloud PRO plan.
  • Make all translation languages available to the general public. You’ll be able to complete the translation of all the content or elements, review and refine them as necessary, and work on a draft version before making the newly translated language public.
  • Automatically translate your website depending on the language settings of a browser.
  • Allow site users to switch between languages they’re comfortable in or native to them.

In addition, Brizy Cloud also integrates with popular third-party solutions like Google Translate to instantly translate between multiple languages. With Brizy Cloud, you can achieve all this using two simple steps.

How to automatically translate your website with Brizy Cloud

Brizy Cloud allows you to turn your site into a bilingual or multilingual website in two simple steps.

Step 1: Set up the languages for the entire website

To begin, log in to your Brizy Cloud account to open one of your ongoing projects. If you don’t have one, you can create a Brizy Cloud account and create a new project. Then, take the following steps:

  1. Click the hamburger menu at the top left corner to open the Brizy Cloud CMS dashboard, then click Project Settings at the bottom left. This will open a page like this.

2. Next, click the translate icon on the taskbar to set the original site language, for example, English, in our case. This is added, by default, depending on the default language you use.

3. Click the Add New Translation button to set a new language your site will be translated to. You will have the following options

  • Translate to Language – This allows you to select the language you want the original site language translated.
  • Make public – Toggle on this switch if you want the selected language to be made public.
  • Auto-translate – This enables you to show original strings instead of auto-translated ones.
  • Auto-switch – Allows your website to detect the browser’s language settings where it is opened and automatically translates.

4. When you’re done, click the Add Translation button at the bottom to add the new translation language.

5. You can create as many translation languages by clicking the Add New Translation button and repeating this process. Once you’re done, click Save Changes to update the changes made.

If you’re happy with all the languages you’ve added, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Add a language switcher to your website’s header

Adding a language switcher to your site’s header enables users to select the language they want to use on your site. Then, take the following steps:

1. On the Brizy Cloud page builder, click the Add Elements icon and scroll down to locate the translation element.

2. Click and drag the Translate element to your header section and customize it to have something like this.

Creating multilanguage websites can help you unlock several benefits that will improve your business.

The benefits of making your site website available to users in different languages

The following are some of the benefits of making your website available in different languages for your customers using Brizy Cloud.

Reach a larger audience and expand your marketing reach

By making your website available in multiple languages, you ensure that it can be accessed, read, and understood by a diverse range of people worldwide, regardless of their native language.

In a Can’t Read, Can’t Buy research series by Common Sense Advisory (CSA), they found that:

  • 40% of users will not buy from websites in other languages.
  • 65% of respondents prefer content in their own language, even if it’s poor quality, and
  • 73% want product reviews in their language.

So, by creating a multilingual site, you increase your chances of doing business with potential customers from various countries and cultures who prefer browsing and making online purchases in their native language.

Note: Also, by providing multiple language options, you’ll open up your business to new customer segments that were previously out of your reach. This can help you boost your business sales and profits.

Improved conversion rates and site engagement

When more users are engaging with your site and buying from you in their preferred language, this will lead to:

  • Increased traffic,
  • Longer browsing sessions,
  • and higher conversion rates.

Improve the user experience on your website

When you provide quality content on your website in the language preferred by your visitors, they will feel acknowledged and appreciated.

This is particularly impactful if your competitors do not typically offer such language options. The sense of being welcomed and appreciated fosters a positive impression and, in turn, contributes to increased commercial success.

It's also important to recognize that some non-native customers may struggle to understand the original site language you use. Offering them multiple language options to choose from will help them:

  • Better understand your products or services,
  • Easily navigate through the site,
  • and access information, which ultimately leads to increased satisfaction and customer loyalty.

Boost SEO and visibility

Translating your site’s content allows you to optimize it for different languages and target specific keywords in each language. This can improve your search engine rankings in different regions, making your website more visible to potential customers searching for products or services in their native languages.

Cost-effectiveness

With Brizy Cloud Multi-Language feature, you have everything you need to create a fully functional website and seamlessly translate it. You won’t need additional translation tools like WPML or PolyLang, making Brizy Cloud a more affordable option. It provides a one-stop solution, saving you time and money while delivering all the essential features for your website building and translation needs.

Wrapping Up

Translating websites helps you to make your site accessible to customers from different parts of the world. You’ll be able to offer multilingual options and communicate effectively with customers who speak different languages but share a common interest in your business’s offerings. This opens up new avenues for engagement, and growth, and ultimately boosts your sales and profitability.

With Brizy Cloud, you can build multilingual websites and break the language barrier. By automating the translation process, Brizy Cloud ensures that your content is dynamically presented in the appropriate language, providing a seamless user experience.
